Mission Statement of
Fox Valley Citizens for
Peace and Justice

Fox Valley Citizens for Peace and Justice strives to promote a culture of peace, a stronger democracy, and social and economic justice through education, dialogue, and action.

Objectives of Fox Valley Citizens for Peace and Justice

In order to carry out our mission we will promote the following ideas and work toward the following principles:

We oppose military solutions to world problems. We believe that the best way to counter terrorism is to eradicate poverty, ignorance, racism, and disease and to promote peace and justice.

We seek to expose and oppose the present workings of the corporate/military alliances which drain taxpayer money for corporate profits. We will work to see that tax dollars are reallocated to health care, education, affordable housing, environmental protection, infrastructure, and the general welfare of our citizens.

We call for the President to intervene now to fairly resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including the dismantling of Israeli settlements and the return to 1967 borders.

As a necessary step to global disarmament, we call for the U.S. to initiate real disarmament here at home by eliminating our own weapons of mass destruction.

We call for the restoration of Civil Liberties. We oppose torture unequivocally, and call for accountability for torture. We call for the repeal of several parts of the Patriot Act and of all other measures which permit the government to discourage dissent by spying on the legal activities of citizens. We oppose ICE harassment, deportation, and imprisonment of immigrants.

We contend that the “rights” of for-profit corporations must never be held higher than the human rights of human beings of any country, including the rights of labor, the rights of  consumers, the rights of communities to their identities and integrity, and the protection of the natural environment for the benefit of all.

We, as individuals, will take an active role in local, state and national elections.

We embrace the principles of the UN Declaration on Human Rights and the Earth Charter.
